Summer Time Treat

It was unbearably hot today (100 degrees!) so Lily & I decided to try & beat the heat with some ice cream.

Cowboy Wanted

Lily picked this outfit out all by herself & told me I had to take a picture of her. Her shirt says "Cowboy Wanted" :o)

In other news, we only have a week left before Lily's very first dance recital! We are soooo excited! We went & picked Lily's costume up this week, but she says it has to be a surprise, so no pictures before the big day. Lily has been practicing her dance routines every week & she has them just about perfected. She'll be the star of the show for sure! :o)

She is also looking forward to having her grandparents come visit next weekend (Mimi, Grant, Grammy & Papa wll all be here for the recital). Every day when she wakes up & before she goes to bed, she asks "How many more days till everyone comes to see me?!" When I would answer 12 or 11 more days, she would groan, but this morning when I said "Only 5 more days!" she said "YIPEE!!"

The Boy Next Door

Stevie & his family moved in next door to us over the winter & he & Lily have become fast friends. They spend almost every day playing together & it's like pulling teeth to get them to come inside for bedtime in the evening. These two may look sweet & innocent, but they have gotten into a good share of trouble so far. Just last week they were playing in Stevie's house & they somehow got the ice cream out of the freezer, got themselves some spoons & were sitting at the table eating the ice cream right out of the container!
I think we're going to have to keep an eye on these two though... when Lily & I were watching the finale of 'Dancing With the Stars", one of the women dancing was wearing a pink dress. Lily said to me "Mom, I wish I could be that girl some day". I told her maybe she could be one day & then she said "And I wish Stevie was that man!". Stevie was also telling his family that Lily was his girlfriend the last time he went to visit them. These two are going to be trouble! :o)

Day at the Lake

On Sunday we took the dogs to the lake for a swim. We weren't sure what Zoey would think of the water, but we needn't have worried. She jumped right in & swam like a fish the whole afternoon.

Rainy Day

Friday brought rain & chilly temperatures, so Lily & I made the best of the bad weather.

Luckily Thursday's mail had brought the perfect solution...Kate & Lauren sent Lily a fabulous 'Pink Princess' cookbook, so we started baking right away.

(As soon as she opened the package & saw what it was she ran straight outside to show her neighborhood friends what her cousins sent her. She was wildly excited to receive something from them!)


Cookie time!!

After we made cookies we decided it was time to relax & watch a movie snuggled up on the couch. We rented Cinderella III, which was really cute.What movie is complete without popcorn?!

Even the dogs stayed dry & relaxed together! These are some spoiled puppy dogs!

A Perfect Mother's Day

This year, Mother's Day was a perfect day for the whole family. The weather couldn't have been nicer & Mom got to take the day off :o)

I woke up to chocolate chip pancakes being made for me (my favorite!), and then after church, we were off to Maymont.

We had a beautiful picnic (packed by Daddy) & then went to visit the animals at the petting zoo. After we visited with the farm animals, we went to see the wild animals & then walked around the beautiful gardens & grounds at Maymont.

(Every time I went to take a picture, Lily would strike a pose...this was all her idea & if you look carefully she is doing it in almost every picture. What a ham!!!)

Kings Dominion

Brian's unit sponsored a "Spring Fling" at a local amusement park, Kings Dominion, this weekend.

Before we got there, all Lily could talk about was riding the roller coasters. That was the first thing she wanted to do as soon as we got there.

We rode every roller coaster at least twice & then we rode them again.

Once we rode all the roller coasters & were considerably shaken up, we were finally "allowed" (by Lily) to do some other fun things...

Warm Weather...Finally!

Paige & Lexi came over to enjoy some much needed warm weather today. The girls were so excited to be able to play in the sprinkler & pool. Hopefully this warm weather will stick around!

Import Nationals

This weekend we went to the Import Nationals. There was a lot of car & motorcycle drag racing, a car show & a motorcycle stunt show. Lily was a little unsure at first of the loud, fast cars, but soon her & Paige were jumping around cheering for every race.
