We're Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo!

I took the kids to the zoo this weekend. It was supposed to be a nice, sunny 67 degree day - perfect for the zoo - which turned into a chilly 54 degree day...but we had fun just the same. This was the first time Jake went to the zoo and actually noticed the animals instead of just looking at us confused when we tried to point something out. I think he was more excited to have free reign of the zoo though since I didn't insist he stay strapped into the stroller.
Fun in the play area

Giraffes!
You can get pretty close to them here
Enjoying the flamingos
Elephants

My cute little monkey

Very impressed with the lions

Looking at Lily like she's lunch!
These squares made noise when you stepped on them, but JT was not heavy enough to set them off! He was getting so frustrated and refused to leave - he kept running back to these whenever we tried to go look at something else. He finally figured out that if he "jumped" (he's not a great jumper yet) on them he could get them to go off - and we were finally on our way. :o)

Very realistic lizard - both kids were terrified until I proved to them it was fake. :o)

A Day in the Life of JT

This is the life

"I love my puppy"

"Bathtime!"

"A little work on the computer to start out my day"

"Playing outside every day is a MUST!"

"I'm just going to take a little rest here on the couch...don't worry, I'm not up to anything bad, I promise"

"I didn't do it! I swear, I found it like this..."

"Time to wash the car...I'm going to show Daddy how this is done!"

"What's that smell?"
"Where's the food?!"

Pumpkin Fun

Mimi & Grant came to visit last weekend and we all took a trip to a local farm that has some fun fall activities. Luckily the rain help out just long enough for us to enjoy ourselves without getting drenched. :o)

(not sure when this became a "fun fall activity", but we'll go with it)

Guess What?

Miss Lily lost her first tooth!!!

Her tooth has been wiggly for a while now, but it was being pretty stubborn about not wanting to come out. On Saturday night, we had pizza for dinner and when she bit into it, her tooth became SUPER DUPER wiggly, but was still not ready to come out. On Sunday morning, she was wiggling it in the shower while she was getting ready for church and it popped right out! One second she is talking to me, then she gets real quiet for a second and all of a sudden shouts "MOM! My tooth came out!!". I told her not to drop it down the drain & to get out real quick & put it on the sink. :o) She was SO excited!
She put it under her pillow that night & was so anxious about the tooth fairy coming to visit, she couldn't fall asleep. When she woke up in the morning, her tooth was gone & in it's place were 2 gold coins and some fairy dust!
She already has another wiggly tooth and she's trying to convince one of us to pull it out for her so the tooth fairy can make another visit to out house...we told her she's just going to have to wait until it's ready to come out on it's own, and that she has lots of tooth fairy visits to look forward to in the future.

First Grader

First day of First Grade!!

She was SO excited to ride the bus, see all her friends and start the school year as a big first grader! The first day went very smoothly & other than having a little trouble getting up so early in the mornings, the year is off to a great start! She loves her teacher, has some good friends in class with her and is learning lots & lots. Keep up the good work, Lil! :o)

Splashing the Summer Away

Jakers trying to beat the heat in his little splash pool

Family Fun Waterpark
(which was not really a lot of family fun since 5 minutes after we got there they closed the pool for an hour because someone claimed they saw lightning 10 miles from where we were - and then when it finally opened again, we swam for about 45 minutes when they closed the whole childrens area because some kid pooped in the pool!)
