2 Month Check Up

Well, Mr Jake is now 2 months old - which means a check up & the dreaded 2 month vaccinations... His check up went well - he is now weighing in at 11.2 lbs and is 23 inches long (in the 50% range for both height & weight). Just growing away! The doctor said he looks great & is progressing perfectly. His shots went as well as can be expected. (Other than a long wait - damn Kenner clinic...) He only cried for a second - I think Mom was more upset than he was. He's been doing amazingly well sleeping at night. Most nights he will go for 6.5 to 7.5 hours! Although during the day he is staying awake much more & he takes little cat naps throughout the day rather than a couple longer naps. While he's awake he is so alert & animated. He just smiles & coos away at all of us. He's just the best little baby!

So now that we have all that out of the way, the big boy is ready for his next big adventure - his first airplane ride!! That will be exciting...I hope Texas is ready for him :o)

Grammy: "Well, this is my dessert, I'm just eating it first. I'm not going to have dessert after dinner tonight."

Lily: (very sternly) "Well, you better not! No cupcakes tonight Grammy!"

Mom: "Lily, don't talk to Grammy that way"

Lily: (very matter-of-fact) "Well, I know what's best for her!"

Postponed 4th of July Fireworks

Due to the rain on the 4th, the fireworks were cancelled, so the neighboring town postponed their fireworks until the following night. Here are some pics of everyone watching the firework display:

4th of July

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO EVERYONE!!!

Grammy & Papa came to celebrate Independence Day with us since this will be our last 4th of July here & the 4th of July celebration here is definitely worth seeing. Unfortunately we were rained out (of course! - it seems to rain every Fourth of July here) so we missed out on the fireworks... We were able to squeeze in a few pictures and couple turns on the bounce castle for Lily before it started pouring though...

A Day of Play

I was trying to capture one of Jake's smiles on camera since he's been smiling so much lately, but every time I took the camera out, he would just stare at it & wouldn't look at me trying to make him smile. So I tried a bunch of different things and I got a couple of pretty cute half-smiles...

Day at the Lake

We decided to take the dogs back to the lake this weekend for a little swim. Zoey jumped right in and swam around almost the whole time we were there - she would just jump in & swim around even when the ball wasn't in the water! Vader jumped in to get the ball every time I threw it, but he kept swallowing too much water & Zoey would try to swim on top of him whenever he had the ball, so he spent most of his time there out of the water.

Brian has been working hard to get the new engine in the truck & running...and it's finally running!!! It still has a long way to go, but getting the engine running was a huge accomplishment. Here's a couple pics of the progress:

Jake's 6 weeks!

Well Jake is officially 6 weeks old today! He is getting so big already! He's finally starting to outgrow his newborn clothes & is just starting to fit in his 0 - 3 month clothes. He has started sleeping a little longer at night - now instead of waking up every 4 hours, he will sleep 5-6 - sometimes even 7 hours!! Which is greatly appreciated by Mom, and probably everyone else in the house too :o) He can follow objects (and people) with his eyes now if we move things in front of him and he seems to be enjoying some of his toys too. He has some wrist rattles that he seems to like when I put them on his wrists & shake his arms & if we dangle some toys in front of him, he watches them pretty intently. When we put him in his bouncer & put the music on, he moves his arms & legs - it almost looks like he is dancing! He also likes his swing - he either sits in it & just looks around or he falls asleep. He finally smiled at me yesterday! (I was starting to think he didn't like me since he had smiled at everyone else & no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't make him smile. He was even starting to get fussy every time I would pick him up or try to entertain him - but when Brian would talk to him or pick him up he would smile away) I sang the Itsy Bitsy Spider to him & then clapped his hands & said "YAY!!!" and he smiled! finally! He can also lift his head for short periods of time - so those little neck muscles are getting stronger! He has a check up in 2 weeks, so I will let everyone know how that goes then.
