Memorial Day with Grammy & Papa

Grammy & Papa came to visit for Memorial Day weekend for Papa to meet Jake!
We took Lily mini-golfing & Grammy & Papa met us for go-karting.
Lily decided last minute she didn't want to go on the go-karts, so Grammy went instead.

We went to a BBQ at Jamie & Steve's on Memorial Day. There was lots of fun to keep the kids busy at the BBQ.

It was a little too chilly to go in the fountain, but it didn't stop Lily from trying! (or Papa trying to throw her in!)

New Pics of Jake

Jake has been doing great the past week or so. We had his 2 week appointment on Wednesday & he is now 8lbs & 20 1/2 inches - just about back to his birth weight & exactly back to his birth length - although he seems much bigger! The doctor said everything looks great with him - his reflexes are right on target and everything else is exactly where he is supposed to be at this point. He has already graduated from newborn diapers to a size 1, so we know he's growing! He is starting to stay awake quite a bit more during the day - he's very alert & responds to mine, Brian's & Lily's voices. He's also started making cute "ooh" & "aah" noises every once in a while. He's been doing pretty good sleeping at night - he usually does a great stretch of sleep from 11 or midnight to 4 - 4:30am, and then he will wake up again sometime between 6:30 & 8am depending on how much he slept before midnight. He hadn't been taking a pacifier, but just in the past couple days, he will take it occasionally. Lily never took one, but it's starting to seem to soothe Jake, so we'll see how it goes. Other than that, he's just the cutest little baby & we're having so much fun with him! We think he looks a lot like Lily when she was a baby - I've gone back & looked at a few of her pictures when she was a newborn & they look very similar. I think he looks a lot like Brian too, but some of our friends say he looks just like me - I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. :o)

Lily has been doing good too. Her pre-school will end in the next couple weeks and she will be free to do as she pleases all summer. I registered her for kindergarten last week, which will start on September 2nd. Part of me is so happy she will be going & actually learning things because she is so eager to learn everything she possibly can right now, but the other part of me is a little sad that my baby girl is going off to big girl school. I can't believe how big she is!! Lily has been enjoying the warm weather that finally seems to be here for good - playing outside every day & swimming in the kiddie pool in Stevie's backyard. She's totally loving her big-sister role and is trying to help with Jake every chance she gets. It's so amazing to see how much she loves him & how good she is with him - she's always kissing him & talking to him. I have noticed that she has become a little more dramatic (if that's even possible) when she gets hurt or upset about something. She has become the "Queen of Band-Aids" and has at least 3 on at any given time - with really no need for them. I think she is just trying to get extra attention, but other than that she has been great.

Brian's recruiting school ended up getting cancelled, so he will not be going to school this summer. We are glad he didn't have to leave again so soon after coming home from Dover and so soon after Jake was born, but now we will be staying here in Fort Lee until he gets orders & is sent somewhere else. He will be going to air assault (repelling out of a helicopter) school for 2 weeks in August though.

Carnival!

Lily was sooo excited when she saw the carnival set up in a local parking lot - she couldn't wait to go. We met up with a fw of her friends at the carnival and she had tons of fun riding all the rides with them.

Jake's First Bath

Jake loved his bath - which is a huge difference from Lily who screamed the whole way through her first bath. He was quiet & just looked around & seemed to like the warm water being poured over him.

At Home with Jake

We were welcomed home on Sunday with some decorations made by Lily & Grammy.
Lily in her new Big Sister t-shirt - sooo excited that her baby brother is home!
She thought it was the neatest thing in the world that Jake would hold her finger.
Vava loving baby Jake too..

Taking his first nap in his own bed
Paw Paw came to visit on Monday. His pre-scheduled visit just happened to coincide with Jake's arrival. Here's a pic from their first meeting:

Checking out his big sister Lots has changed since we brought Jake home from the hospital, but we are all adjusting well. Jake has been sleeping A LOT, but is starting to stay awake a little longer during the day. The first few nights at home were a little rough - Jake would wake up every 20 - 30 minutes and would only sleep longer if I was holding him, but we figured out a few things that seem to help him sleep & he's been doing much better. He only wakes up a couple times a night to be changed & fed & then goes back to sleep. Here's to hoping that schedule is the one he keeps... Jake had his first doctors appointment on Tuesday - he received a clean bill of health & now weighs 7 pounds 6 ounces. We'll go back for another check up in a week and a half.

Miss Lily is the best big sister ever. She has been a huge help & is constantly checking on Jake to make sure he is okay. If he is crying she tries to comfort him & when he is awake she talks to him & plays with him.

Lily's Soccer Banquet

Lily's soccer season ended with a banquet where all the kids received trophies and 'Certificates of Silliness'. Lily earned herself the name Lily "Wrong Way" Augun due to her habit of kicking the ball towards the wrong goal & even scoring a goal for the other team. :o) Silly girl!! Her trophy is now one of her prized possessions - she was so proud to receive it. Here's some pics from the banquet:
