Well, I'm officially in my eighth month! Some days it feels like it's going by so fast & other days it feels like I've been pregnant forever already, but we are getting there - slowly but surely! I had my 32 week appt yesterday - and from now on I'll be going every 2 weeks until I'm 36 weeks - then the appointments will be every week. The doctor measured my belly & listened to the baby's heart beat & said everything looks & sounds great. He is concerned about my weight - I gained double the "recommended" weight again for this month (8 lbs instead of 4) - but the way I see it is that I am still gaining much less than I did with Lily & my doctor with Lily never said a word about my weight & Lily turned out just perfect, so I'm not really all that concerned with it. Now that the weather is getting warmer I will make more of an attempt to go walking more often, but I don't think I need to change much else. My little man has been extremely active lately & it seems his favorite thing to do is jam his feet up into my ribs - which is really not all that comfortable for me! A lot of times I have to sit with my hand on top of my belly so he can't get his feet into my ribs! I felt him stretch out last night - I felt both hands down near the bottom of my belly & then I felt each foot - one at a time - stretch out near my ribs. It was pretty cute. Poor Baby Boy Augun still does not have a name. :o( But I think we're getting a little closer. I decided on a name that I really like & they are both names that Brian originally brought up, so I know he likes them, but he seems hesitant to lock down on this name, so we'll see what happens. I will definitely let everyone know once we decide for sure!
Developmental progress: By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, he'll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). His skin is becoming soft and smooth as he plumps up in preparation for birth.
Lily is on spring break from school this week. I had every intention of keeping her busy & trying to do something fun with her every day, but that hasn't happened & she seems pretty content to take it easy for a week. She hasn't been asking to do anything or saying she's bored, so maybe she needed a little down time too. She has got to be one of the busiest 5 year olds I know! The week started off a little chilly, but the last part of the week is supposed to be really nice, so hopefully we will get to do a couple special things before she goes back to school. Apparently April is "The Month of the Military Child" (who knew!) so Lily's school has special events planned for every day next month. Hopefully that will make her more willing to go to school because I'm getting a little tired of having to convince her she has to go every day. I talked to her teachers about how bored she is in school & they said they would try to find things for her to do to make it more fun for her, but so far I don't think anything has been done...Only a few more months though & then she will be an official kindergartner! Which I'm sure she will enjoy & find more challenging.
I had a huge accomplishment with Zoey this week - we actually walked around the entire neighborhood without her pulling!!! For those of you who know Zoey, you know what an achievement this is. I used a new kind of collar that makes it almost impossible for her to pull. This thing is a miracle worker let me tell you - which is a good thing, because this dog has become quite the chunker. I haven't been able to walk her lately because she just drags me around no matter what I do, but now we'll be able to walk again - which apparently is what we both need. :o)
Brian is coming to the end of his mission in Dover and we are so ready for him to come home & for us to be a whole family again. Him being gone is really starting to affect us all, I think. Right now he is supposed to be home on April 19th, but there is talk of them extending as late as May 1st due to a lack of funding for the unit that is supposed to replace them. We'll see what happens. Still no word on whether his recruiting packet has been approved or not...Nothing like keeping us guessing until the last minute! The other day we received an enormous delivery from UPS - all parts Brian ordered for his truck - so I know he can't wait to get home & get his hands on them! And I'm looking forward to having the heap of junk that's in the garage resemble something that looks more like a truck too :o)
Well, I think that's all that's new with the Hodo's...I will post some pics at the end of the week as long as Lily & I get out & do some fun things!
