New puppy at Grammy & Papa's!

Lily was so excited to find a new puppy at Grammy & Papa's house! She constantly chased him around & played with him. She even spent his naptime with him! She was thrilled to have a dog that would play with her. Vader has always been taught to be gentle with her, so he won't play with her at all. He lets her take toys right out of his mouth, and he won't even chase tennis balls that she throws for him.
Vader was a little less thrilled to find someone new getting the attention he ususally does, but he warmed up to Rocky, and soon they were playing like old friends.

Dance Mania

Ever since Lily started dance classes, she is constantly dancing where ever we go...the grocery store, the mall, the post office - everywhere. Here she is practicing after dance class this week... And if dance class makes her this tired - sign us up for dance class every day!
Lily usually sits on her bed & watches tv while I'm making lunch, but I've taken the sheets off the bed to wash them, and for some reason Lily doesn't like to sit on the bed when it's not made. She dragged one of her chairs over from the table in her room & was sitting on it watching tv, which was fine, until she decided to lean the chair back on 2 legs against the bed...I told her not to do that several times, but no one likes to listen to "no-fun mom" & she would put it right back when I would leave the room. When I went back in to tell her lunch was ready I found her sound asleep in her chair - and the chair was tipped back again! I don't know how anyone can sleep that way...

UPDATE

I just wanted to let everyone know, in case your interested, that I've updated the entire site with new pictures & stories about Lily. I got new pictures from my mom when she came to visit, so there are new posts in every month.
Enjoy!

How to find a princess...

How do you find a princess? Well, if the princess you are looking for is Lily...just follow the pink feathers!
Lately it seems like everywhere Lily goes, she leaves a trail of pink feathers & tinsel in her wake. I am constantly picking up feathers & no matter how many I pick up,there is always more when I turn around. Tonight while I was making dinner Lily ventured upstairs on her own & when I went to check on her, I ended up following this trail of feathers to find her...

I found her twirling around on my bed, which is not allowed!
As soon as she saw me, she sat down real quick & tried to look innocent, but she knew she had done something wrong.

The Princess & the patient

Yesterday when we gave Vader a bath, Lily was the best helper. Vader is a little afraid of his bath (mostly because he doesn't like how slippery the tub is) & the whole time he was in there she was petting him & telling him it was okay & he shouldn't be afraid. She also told him that bath's were good for him & they helped keep him healthy & strong (which is along the lines of what I tell her when she doesn't want to take a bath). Then she said "I know it hurts if you get soap in your eyes Va, cause sometimes I get soap in my eyes, but my mommy will wash it out real quick if you tell her." She thought it was so funny when Vader would shake & get water all over her.
When Vader got out of the bath, we noticed that he had a boo boo on his leg. He must have gotten it when we took him out to play earlier in the day. It wasn't too bad, but it was bleeding enough for me to not want him to get blood where ever he decided to take a nap. When Lily found out what was wrong with Vader, she immediately insisted that he needed a band-aid. She went & got the band-aids, then helped me put some on Vader's hurt leg. (He needed a couple to wrap around his leg so they wouldn't fall off.) When we were done she kissed his leg & told him she hoped he felt better. She was the perfect doctor for the patient!

The face Vader is making in the picture above is just a ruse (he was NOT sleeping even though it looks like he is). This dog likes getting his picture taken as much as Lily does, but I think he was mad that she was trying to steal the spotlight. :o) Here is a picture of him by himself - looking much happier, I think.

DQ Friends / "my dot com"

Here's Lily goofing around wearing my glasses. She put them on & was walking around the house bumping into things telling me she could see perfectly...

DQ Friends
Today Lily & I stopped for an ice cream at Dairy Queen after lunch. Lily got a cup with sprinkles & I got a cone. While we were eating Lily asked me if she could have a bite of mine, so I gave her one. Then she asked for another & I explained to her that we both had the same exact kind of ice cream, so she should eat hers. She looked like that answer was going to satisfy her, but all of a sudden she said (with her little attitude) "Mommy, your supposed to share. That's what friends are for, you know!"

My Dot Com
Lily must have heard me telling people the name of her blog website, because now whenever she sees me working on it, she says "Mommy, is that my dot com?" She also tells her friends that she has "a dot com".

Grammy & Papa's fun at the park

We had some really nice weather the first half of the week that Grammy & Papa were visiting, so we spent as much time outside as we could. (I was glad for the warm weather because it meant Lily could wear a dress & it wouldn't be a war trying to get her to wear pants because of cool weather...) Here are some pics of Grammy & Papa obeying Lily's "orders" to play with her on the swings & the slide. I think the princess must have been born with a magic touch, because I don't think they did everything I asked them to do when I was her age... :o) Lily also rode her bike all the way around the neighborhood with no help at all, which is a huge fete, considering she had refused to ride her bike on the sidewalk until now. (That is where she fell back when she first got the bike & would only ride on the trail & basketball court behind our house until now.)

Little Miss Ballerina

Lily has always loved dancing & lately she's been saying she wants to be a ballerina. I found her a dance class & her first lesson was this morning. She loved it!! I was a little nervous that she would not want to go into the class by herself, because she is a little shy & usually she will not leave my side unless her best friend Paige is with her, but the only problem I had was trying to get her to leave when class was over! She ran right into the class & participated in everything. She did everything the teacher asked her to do & loved every second of it. She couldn't wait to wear her new dancing shoes (ballet & tap) & of course her new princess leotard. The class is 1/2 hour of ballet & 1/2 hour of tap. She thought the way her tap shoes clicked on the floor was so funny. Here's some pics of the pretty ballerina on her first day of class.

I guess all the dancing & excitement wore her out - she came home & crashed!

Halloween House on the BOOlevard

Grammy found this neat kit to make a Halloween gingerbread house. Lily & Grammy were supposed to build it together on Halloween, but they ran out of time & then because of Lily's sickness, it had to be put off until she was feeling better. Today was a good day to have a project like this inside since we are setting record low temperatures for today in Virginia! Lily & Grammy made a good team building this house - Grammy put on the "goo" (frosting) & Lily stuck her decorations to the "goo". Lily liked saying the word "goo" & I must have heard "More goo Grammy!" a hundred times today.

Sickey McSick

Poor Lily was SOOOOO sick yesterday. She woke up in the morning with a headache so bad she was screaming crying. I immediately gave her Tylenol, but it wasn't working fast enough for her. She asked for some ice (her fix-all for anything that hurts), but that wasn't helping either. I tried everything I could think of to help her - drinking water, fresh air - even chocolate (I know sometimes the caffeine helps) - to no avail. Finally the medicine started to kick in & she started feeling a little better - only to have it start hurting again an hour later. 'Dora the Explorer' seemed to take her mind off the pain for a little while until the second dose of medicine could kick in, but then the vomiting started. I thought the chocolate had been a good idea until it was thrown up all over me. (I can tell you there will be NO more chocolate in this house for a long time...) It seemed like every time we thought she was starting to feel better, she would get sick again. I was contemplating taking her to the emergency room (by this time it was too late for the doctor) when she finally fell asleep & slept through the night. I'm still not exactly sure what was wrong, but it seems it was a 24hour bug because when she woke up today, she was a completely different kid - back to her happy giggly self. Thank goodness!
